The late John “Jackie” Cooper, Jr. (September 15, 1922 – May 3, 2011) was a well-known American actor, director, producer, and executive in the television industry. He was a young actor who was able to make the transition to a professional acting career as an adult. Cooper became the first child actor to be nominated for an Academy Award in the category of Best Actor. He was also the youngest actor ever to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role, a distinction he won for the film Skippy, which he appeared in at the age of nine (1931).
